Special Educational Needs and Disability Infomation
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information At Oakley Primary Academy we recognise that our pupils have a variety of needs. We are committed to the inclusion of all pupils in a broad and balanced curriculum, made accessible through differentiated activities and interventions.
We aim to ensure the identification of all pupils requiring Special Educational Needs provision as early as possible in their educational journey, to ensure they can access the curriculum and take as full a part as possible in school activities.
We track and monitor the progress and attainment of SEND pupils closely and work alongside the children and families to ensure that they are involved in the provision we provide.
We recognise that many pupils will have special needs at some time during their school life and believe pupils will be helped to overcome their difficulties and barriers by parents, teachers and pupils working together.
Definition of Special Educational Needs
A child has special educational needs if he or she has learning difficulties that call for special educational provision to be made.
Children have a learning difficulty if they have significantly greater difficulty in learning than most children of the same age or have a disability which needs different educational facilities from those that schools generally provide for children of the same age in the area.
Educational provision is that which is additional to, or otherwise different from, the educational provision made generally for children of their age in schools maintained by the SAF.
If your child has been identified as having a special educational need there is further information and confidential support provided by Bedford Borough through the Parent Partnership Service. Please follow this link for more information.
