Year 2 Visit to Marston Mortaine

To complement our summer term topic, we have arranged for the children in year 2 to visit the Forest Centre at Marston Mortaine on Wednesday 21st June.

During the day, the children will take part in activities such as pond dipping, bird watching and a bug hunt. The sessions will be led by the Centre’s Rangers and by Oakley School staff.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their knowledge and understanding of nature as part of their creative curriculum and a chance to promote our school values such as understanding, caring and respect.

The children should wear school uniform for the visit and we recommend that long trousers are worn as children will be walking through long grass. A sunhat should also be worn and depending on the weather forecast, a waterproof coat.

Children in year 2 are entitled to a free school lunch. If you would like the school kitchen to provide a packed lunch for that day, please indicate on the reply slip. Alternatively, you may provide a packed lunch from home. All children will require a filled water bottle.

The cost for the visit, including travel by coach and insurance is £8.00, please may cheques payable to Sharnbrook Academy Federation, this should be sent into school by Friday 26th May. If you have any problems paying this amount, please speak in confidence to Mrs Wille, Office Manager. The attached slip giving details of emergency contacts for the day should also be returned to school as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about this visit, please speak to your child’s teacher. We are sure the children will have an enjoyable and beneficial day.

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

On behalf of the governors, the staff, pupils I would like to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy. We are friendly village school with exciting times ahead as we continue along our transition of moving towards a primary school with our first year 5 pupils joining us this year. We are a member of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation and work closely with all of the schools within the Federation, as well as other schools and pre-schools in the local area. This enables us to share expertise, good practice and learn and move forward together. The close links we have with the pre-schools enable us to really get to know the pupils and their families before they join the Early Years.

We are proud to be a ‘Values School’. The values we teach are modelled by all of the team and through our teaching of the curriculum. We are a supportive and hardworking team, where all stakeholders are valued and listened to.

At Oakley Primary Academy we deliver the National Curriculum through a creative curriculum so that learning is creative, fun and meaningful. There is a clear progression of skills in each subject to enable children to grow in all areas and be successful, not only in key assessments, but in daily life.

We work very closely with the families of our school and acknowledge the importance of close home/school links. We have an open door policy and there is always someone available if you wish to talk.

I am extremely proud of our school and of all the hard work from our pupils, families, staff, PTA and governors.

If you would like any further information about our school please make contact via the details on this website.
